Wood, foam, fabric, thread, paint
This seat documents light and shadow on earth. The base is the shadow cast by the seat itself, with the bevel corresponding to the shadow angle. The seam of the two fabrics is the shadow line. The entire ball is topstitched with map, black thread on pale fabric on the sunny half and dark thread on dark fabric on the shadow half. The map was projected onto the ball at the same angle as the sun, hence the distortion around the shadow line. Inside, there is a wood structure that forms a comfortable seat when facing the sun, and the compass rose on top directs the user where to sit.
